e London Marathon last weekend! 👏👏
A couple of weeks back I ran the Martello Half Marathon in Seaford. I'll be honest, I only signed a week before the event, but I fancied a challenge and I do a lot of running anyway! 😄
Being a trail half I knew it was going to be tough, and the hills definitely didn't disappoint, but I was really chuffed with my results.

As a sports and physio therapist I thought I'd share what I did to help recovery after a big race.
Straight after I had a good stretch to stop everything seizing up, then gave myself proper rest for the day. Later on I used my massage gun to work through the tightness that had built up in my legs and calves, ate a decent carby meal, and made sure I got a full 8 hours sleep. The next day I kept it to light walking just to keep things moving without overdoing it.
Simple stuff really, but sometimes that's all your body needs to bounce back quickly!
Of course, if there’s anyone out there that raced and something still doesn't feel right a week on and you think you might have overworked or stretched something, drop me a message - happy to help. 💬
