This is an ancient form of alternative medicine, where cups will be placed in specific areas across the body to aid tension relief and increase mobility. This technique utilises a vacuum force underneath the skin where the cup has been placed. This technique will stimulate metabolic activity, improve immune function and stabilise blood biochemistry. Cupping has also been proven to loosen adhesions across the body and increase the blood flow to the skin and muscles.
Trigger points and painful areas will be palpated, this will determine where the cups will be placed.
Cups will be placed onto the body and the air sucked out of them. This will create a vacuum inside which will aid with tension relief.
The cups will be left on for roughly 5 minutes and after they have been taken off that limb or the surrounding area to the cup will be mobilised.
This is a type of massage where a form of tool will be used instead of the therapists hands. These instruments allow a more direct treatment of the soft tissues involved with movement. It has been proven that after a few sessions of IASTM mobility, strength and pain perception can be significantly improved.
This is a type of massage which uses rapid and repetitive pressure combined with vibration therapy. Percussion therapy penetrates deeper into the muscles which will intern stimulate chromatin, this will then increase blood flow, which will carry more oxygen and nutrients to sore muscles.
Trigger point therapy is a type of therapy designed for correcting muscular imbalances and relieving pain. This type of therapy will involve applying constant pressure to areas of muscle tightness. Often this pain will be referred and felt actually in another part of the body. When the trigger point is released, your muscles will relax which will allow fresh blood flow. Quite often an increase in range of motion will be noticed after the treatment too.
The area will be palpated to determine what cut of tape will be best for that area.
The tape will be cut to suit that area and then the limb/surrounding area cleaned to ensure the tape will stick.
The tape will be stuck and then the client will be asked to move to ensure it is not too tight and full range of motion can still be completed.
Active release therapy is a manual way to release tightness and pain associated with adhesions in the muscles and connective tissues. Often this type of therapy may be uncomfortable at first but that will often fade after a few minutes. Active release therapy will also increase range of motion and flexibility.
Acupuncture is an ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), designed to promote healing and restore balance within the body. By inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the skin, acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and improving overall well-being. It is especially effective for treating musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, tension, and sports injuries, making it an excellent complement to sports massage therapy. Acupuncture helps enhance recovery, relieve stress, and support long-term physical health.
We also provide Auricular Acupuncture for enhanced recovery and wellness.
Assisted Stretching is a specialised technique where a trained professional helps you perform stretches that you may not be able to do on your own. This method focuses on improving flexibility, enhancing mobility, and promoting muscle recovery by using controlled, targeted stretches to reach deeper muscle fibres and joints.
Unlike traditional stretching, where you stretch on your own, assisted stretching involves a therapist guiding and supporting the stretch. Appling the right amount of pressure and positioning to safely extend muscles, improve range of motion, and reduce tension. It’s particularly beneficial for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, or anyone dealing with stiffness, muscle imbalances, or limited mobility.
Generally, massage is safe for most people, however there are health factors which are known as contraindications which can restrict massage for some people. These will be spoken about during the consultation and the therapist will outline what treatments are safe for the client.
Massage will relax muscle tissue which will increase range of motion, joint spaces and a decrease in nerve compression. By keeping up with regular treatments massage will reduce pain and improve functions throughout the body. Massage is very good for reducing stress levels too.
You can, however to get the most out of the treatment it is not advised. The advice from the therapist is to normally take it easy for the next 24 hours to let the body recover after the treatment.
There are points that throughout the massage it may be painful but it is important to speak to your therapist throughout the treatment so they can gauge what is too much. Trigger point therapy and cupping therapy are normally more painful than the massage itself.
Generally the advice from a therapist will be to have a treatment every month. Different factors will influence the length between each session but normally to keep in good health once a month is advised.
A deep tissue massage will focus on releasing tension throughout the body, whereas a sports massage will focus on certain areas that may have suffered from overuse, this type of injury may have caused a strain or a sprain which will need specific soft tissue treatment.
I have completed my level 3 & 4 sports massage with a structural rebalancing module in there too. I also have qualifications to complete the following treatments; Kinesiology taping, Vacuum/Fire cupping and a Rockblades course.
These will often be used during treatments to help with injuries and niggles that struggle to release off by hand.
Generally the answer will be no. However if you have cupping then there is the potential for marks to be left for the coming days. These are not anything to worry about, they are just where the cup was placed to release tension in the muscle.
